We've just signed a direct relationship with MassiveMusic, which means your music now reaches ten additional platforms and services. I wanted to explain what this partnership actually means and why it matters for your distribution.

But before I get into the details, let me explain what MassiveMusic is and why having a direct relationship with them is a big deal for independent artists.

What is MassiveMusic?

MassiveMusic is a B2B music infrastructure company that connects music catalogues to digital platforms worldwide. They're part of Songtradr's ecosystem, which includes the former 7digital infrastructure that's been powering music delivery for over 20 years.

When streaming services, apps, and digital platforms need music, MassiveMusic is often the company making that happen behind the scenes. They handle delivery to platforms that range from streaming services to music recognition apps to rights monitoring systems.

For distributors like us, there are two ways to access this network. You can go through intermediaries, which adds extra steps and slows everything down. Or you can have a direct relationship, which is what we've now secured.

They're actively looking for music that fits their taste, and the discovery experience is built around their preferences rather than algorithmic trends.

For artists making jazz, classical, easy listening, or anything with crossover appeal to older generations, GrandPad opens up an audience that's genuinely underserved by the major streaming platforms.

HomeWAV

HomeWAV provides communication services and entertainment to incarcerated individuals through tablets in correctional facilities. Music is a significant part of their offering, with users purchasing downloads at $1-2 per track.

There are roughly 2.3 million incarcerated people in the United States alone. That's a substantial market that's completely inaccessible through traditional streaming because these facilities don't have open internet access. Downloads are the only option, which means actual purchase revenue rather than streaming fractions.

This isn't a market most artists think about, but it's real money from real listeners who are actively buying music.

OpenWav

Stationhead

Stationhead is a social streaming platform where fans host live radio shows and streaming parties. You might have seen it used for major releases. BTS, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, and Blackpink have all run release events through the platform.

What makes Stationhead interesting is that streams on the platform count as premium streams on Spotify and Apple Music, which means they contribute to chart positions. Fans average over three hours at streaming events, and the platform has over 7 million users across 200 countries.

Musixmatch

Musicube is an AI-powered metadata and music analysis company, also part of the Songtradr family. They analyse tracks across over 500 different tags covering mood, tempo, energy, vocal characteristics, instrumentation, and more.

This matters for sync licensing. When music supervisors search for tracks for TV, film, or advertising, they're searching by characteristics rather than artist names. Better metadata means your music is more likely to surface when someone's looking for "uplifting acoustic with female vocals" or "dark electronic instrumental."

Musicube's database includes over 50 million songs, and having your catalogue properly analysed and tagged improves your chances of being discovered for sync opportunities.

SoundHound

SoundHound is a music recognition app with over 100 million users. It identifies songs by listening, and unlike some competitors, it can also identify tracks from humming or singing.

The app is integrated into Hyundai and Kia vehicles, smart home devices, and various other platforms. When someone uses SoundHound to identify your track, they're directed to streaming platforms where you earn royalties.

This extends discovery beyond playlist browsing into real-world moments. Someone hears your track in a café, identifies it with SoundHound, and ends up streaming it. That's a listener you might never have reached otherwise.

PEX

PEX provides content identification technology that tracks music usage across social media and user-generated content platforms. Their database includes over 27 billion audio fingerprints.

Here's why this matters: PEX found that 38% of music on TikTok is modified in some way. Sped up, slowed down, remixed, mashed up with other tracks. Without proper detection, artists miss royalties on all of those uses because the standard identification systems can't match them.

TuneSat

TuneSat monitors TV broadcasts and websites worldwide to detect when music is used. They track over 200 broadcast channels across the US, UK, France, Germany, and Italy, plus millions of websites.

NEC rounds out the new platforms, adding another distribution channel to the network and extending where your music can be heard.
