The 10% is our share of what your catalogue earns. ### What "net DSP revenue" means Each statement adds up the net revenue in your stores' sales reports. We take 10% of that total and show it on the statement as commission. The rest is yours. If tax withholding applies, it comes off at payout, based on your tax form, and it's separate from the 10%. ### What the fee replaces Doing this yourself means keeping every store connection working, staffing release review, matching sales reports and paying out. The fee and the 10% cover that, plus the operations UI, signed webhooks and request logs. ### How tracks are counted A track counts once its release goes out, and only once, even if it's on several releases. It still counts after a takedown, because the delivery work is already done. ARK is a white-label music distribution backend, not a ready-made customer portal. You design and brand the frontend, set your own pricing and keep your customer relationships. Your developers connect it to ARK's REST API, and your team uses ARK's operations UI for catalogue, delivery and financial work. Does every release go through human review? Yes. Our team reviews every release before delivery. Your product receives approval or rejection events, including clear review notes when something needs fixing. What can we manage through the API? The read and write REST API covers releases, tracks, labels, artists, contributors and genres. You can upload media, submit releases, request metadata updates and takedowns, manage catalogue resources and follow each result through signed webhooks. How does authentication work? You create API keys in ARK and send them as a bearer token. Each key is either read only or allowed to write too, and it is shown once, when you create it. You can revoke a key at any time, and every request is logged so your team can see what each integration did. Which webhook events are available? Release and delivery events include release.approved, release.rejected with review notes, release.distributed, release.taken\_down and delivery.completed. ARK also sends sales\_report.processed and statement.generated events. Every outbound webhook is signed with HMAC-SHA256. What happens if our webhook endpoint is down? We wait up to 15 seconds for a response. A 5xx or 429 is tried again, up to 3 attempts in all, 30 seconds apart. Any other 4xx isn't retried, because the payload won't improve. After 10 failed deliveries in a row we switch the endpoint off until you turn it back on. Every attempt shows in the delivery log, and failed ones can be retried from there. What are the API rate limits? Each team starts with 120 API requests a minute and 10 upload initiations a minute. If you're running a bulk catalogue migration, we can raise them for your team. Can we migrate our existing catalogue? Yes. Use the API if your catalogue is already structured, or bring it in by spreadsheet. Resources have stable IDs, and the shared track library lets one recording sit on several releases without being duplicated. For a large move, ask us to raise your rate limits first. What happens when we take a release down? The release status changes to taken down straight away and you receive a release.taken\_down event. Stores are notified separately, so it can take a day or two for the release to disappear from each one. A taken-down track still counts towards your monthly track total, because the delivery work has already been done. How do royalties and payouts work? ARK ingests sales reports and matches them to your catalogue. We draft one statement for the month on the 1st and finalise it on the 14th, then pay the balance to your business through Wise once it reaches $50. Anything smaller carries forward to the next month. We take 10% of net DSP revenue before that, and we need a W-9 or W-8 on file before the first payout. The payout goes to your business, not to your labels or artists. How do we show royalties to our own labels and artists? We pay one balance to your business, so reporting to your own customers is something you build. Each monthly statement downloads as a CSV with a row for each recording: ISRC, UPC, title, artist, units, gross and net. The statement.generated and sales\_report.processed webhooks tell you when new figures are ready, and tracks carry master splits you can read and set through the API. There isn't a statements or sales endpoint on the API, so your team downloads the CSV and your product imports it. What is net DSP revenue, and what does the 10% cover? It's the net figure in your stores' sales reports, added up for each monthly statement. We take 10% of that total and show it on the statement as commission. The rest is yours. The 10% is our share of what your catalogue earns. The monthly fee and track bands pay for the platform. Tax withholding, where it applies, comes off at payout and is separate. What does ARK cost? ARK costs $199 per month in USD and includes 2,000 distributed tracks. Monthly graduated overages are $0.15 for tracks 2,001 to 10,000, $0.10 for tracks 10,001 to 50,000, $0.08 for tracks 50,001 to 200,000 and $0.05 for each track above 200,000. A track counts once its release goes out, and drafts are free. ARK also retains 10% of net DSP revenue. Getting started with ARK ------------------------ Sign up and start building. You'll need a passport or driving licence and a selfie from a phone or webcam.
